Gulbarga Municipal Corporation

    Gulbarga City Corporation was constituted in 1981. Gulbarga city council has 55 wards and is a Congress party bastion. Gulbarga North favours Congress party due to strong muslim population while Gulbarga South is a BJP stronghold.     Gulbarga was the capital city of Bahamani Sultans and later ruled by Nizams of Hyderabad. It was merged with India in 1948.
