BJP won in BMPP civic polls
BJP grabbed Bangalore Corporation for the first time in history. BMPP went to polls after 9 years. BJP which gradually strengthened its base from 1998 onwards further consolidated its urban vote bank. BJP leaders expected wins in 100-104 wards only. This is a remarkable morale boosting victory for party as it is losing its grip in metros like Delhi and Mumbai. BJP won in all the 3 Loksabha segments in 2009 and in 17 Assembly segments out of 28 in 2008. 52 MLAs and MPs can also cast their votes in the Chiarman polls. BJP has 30 MLAs and MPs. Puram, Yelahanka, Govindarajanagar and Bommanahalli. 4. Poor performance of JD (S) in newly added villages and municipalities is a big surprise. 5. Congress paid heavy price due to internal politics. Congress ruled Bangalore for 62 years. These results are a big setback for M. Krishnappa, Krishna Byregowda and Priya Krishna. 6. Candidates of Karnataka Rakshana Vedike lost deposits in many areas. 7. Former mayor P.R. Ramesh lost in Vishveshwarapuram ward. Concern: Only 44% of voters casted their votes.
