BJP Vs Congress: Political war on internet

BJP and Congress now decided to fight on internet. In an unprecedented instance, Bharatiya Janata Party sent legal notice to Congress party for diverting website traffic by buying a domain name which is similar to official website of BJP. According to this, BJP lost huge traffic as internet users misleaded by BJP.com.     Official website of BJP: www.bjp.org     BJP complaint: Congress party diverted traffic to www.congress.org.in (Congress party official site) by buying domain www.bjp.com. Due to this, when an internet user typed bjp.com in the address bar, he will go to official website of Congress party.     But, as per latest data, bjp.com is still available for sale and there is no diversion of traffic to Congress website.     Comment: I don’t think Congress party resorts to such cheap tactics. It might have been done by domain owner in order to propel BJP to buy bjp.com.     Only time will reveal the truth - whether this incident occurred due to BJP’s ignorance or Congress’s cheap tactics.     But, this is definitely an interesting development in the Indian political history and also an interesting case in Indian domain history. It is time for political parties to use experts in this field to deal with such developments.     How to proceed in such instances?     1. Send complaint notice to domain registrar with details about illegal activity of domain owner. Request the registrar to give details of domain owner. Generally, registrars do not respond.     2. Repeat the same process through an investigation agency. Registrars should respond as per law. Take action against domain owner if Law pemits.     Simple solution: Buy the domain … [Read more...]

Trinamool Congress swept in Kolkata  and surrounding districts but Left front recovered in some areas after suffering humiliating defeats in 2009 Loksabha polls by utilising split in oposition votes. Congress party is now relegated to support cast as in Tamil Nadu and Bihar etc. TMC and Congress went alone in these polls and Mamata proved her strength among Bengal urban voters.   TMC decimated Left front in Kolkata and Salt Lake municipalities. TMC is expected to win around 100 wards in 141-ward Kolkata municipality. TMC almost swept South Bengal.   West Bengal Municipality results:   Hung result in 20 municipalities.   Party 2010 2005       Total Municipalities 81 81        Left Front  17 54  Trinamool (TMC) 30 11  Congress  8 16  Others   - -    Kolata Municipal Corporation (TMC) results:   Party 2010 2005       Total wards 141 141        TMC 95 42 Left Front 33 75  Congress 10 15  Others  3 9    Salt lake Municipality:   TMC-18 wards   Left front - 7 wards     West Bengal assembly elections will be held in 2011. BJP won in BMPP civic polls

BJP grabbed Bangalore Corporation for the first time in history. BMPP went to polls after 9 years. BJP which gradually strengthened its base from 1998 onwards further consolidated its urban vote bank. BJP leaders expected wins in 100-104 wards only. This is a remarkable morale boosting victory for party as it is losing its grip in metros like Delhi and Mumbai. BJP won in all the 3 Loksabha segments in 2009 and in 17 Assembly segments out of 28 in 2008.   52 MLAs and MPs can also cast their votes in the Chiarman polls. BJP has 30 MLAs and MPs.   BMPP election results:   Total wards: 198 BJP: 112 wards Congress: 64 wards JD (S): 15 wards Others: 7 wards   Elections held on: March 28 Results announced on: April 5   Highlights of results:   1. 86 women candidates won. Only 17 women won in 2001 pools. 19 women won from unreserved wards.   2. Relatives of some criminals won with huge margin.   3. BJP lost many seats in the areas represented by Shobha Karandlaje and Arvind Limbavali. Ministers Suresh Kumar, Ashok and Naidu are one of the star performers. BJP is unstoppable in K.R. Puram, Yelahanka, Govindarajanagar and Bommanahalli.   4. Poor performance of JD (S) in newly added villages and municipalities is a big surprise.   5. Congress paid heavy price due to internal politics. Congress ruled Bangalore for 62 years. These results are a big setback for M. Krishnappa, Krishna Byregowda and Priya Krishna.   6. Candidates of Karnataka Rakshana Vedike lost deposits in many areas.   7. Former mayor P.R. Ramesh lost in Vishveshwarapuram ward.   Concern: Only 44% of voters casted their votes. This is indicating about lack of faith among voters about political parties. … [Read more...]

BJP is ahead in Gujarat and Karnataka while Congress-NCP alliance is much ahead in Maharashtra. Congress is strengthening its position among Dalits but losing hold among urban voters. Karnataka election results: BJP and JD (S) swept by-polls

BJP swept the Karnataka By-polls by winning 5 seats while JD (S) won 3 assembly seats. Congress failed to win even a single seat in the  by-elections. BJP now has absolute strength (115 members) in the 224-member Assembly. The by-polls were held after 3 Congress and 4 JD(S) MLAs resigned from the assembly to join the BJP. This is a huge blow to Congress Party despite having cadre strength in at least 5 constituencies. Effective strength of BJP is now at 121 (6 independent MLAs are supporting BJP).         By-elections for 8 Karnataka by-elections were held on December 27th in a tense atmosphere (stability Vs defectors). But BJP comfortably won the majority number of seats to regain absolute majority in the Assembly. Voters voted for “defectors” mean they want stable Government. BJP should utilise this chance to gain strength in this South Indian state. Caste, Money and liquor played significant role in the outcome of by-polls.     Congress- self goals:     1. Lack of coordination in the Congress camp helped BJP and JD (S) to clean sweep the Assembly by-elections.     2. Congress released candidate list in the last minute.     3. Lingayats are now with BJP while Vokkaligas are with JD (S). Congress fails to plan a new strategy despite knowing this hard fact. Congress needs to do caste re-engineering to make progress in Karnataka vote bank politics.     Surprise: Kumaraswamy and his wife are the first couple in the Karnataka Assembly.     Bad news: M.D. Lakshminarayan, the BJP candidate in Turuvekere, suffered a heart attack after hearing his defeat news. He collapsed in the counting centre. He was ahead of his rival JD (S) candidate till the final round of counting. … [Read more...]
