Bhavnagar is the second largest city in Saurashtra after Rajkot (Jamnagar & Junagadh are other cities) and is also the cultural capital of Saurashtra. MJP founder Jadaphia came from Bhavnagar. So, BJP is facing tight contest due to split in votes.

1. MJP (Mahagujarat Janata Party) candidate and party president Gordan Jadaphia got 1,56,567 votes in 2009 Lok Sabha polls. But, BJP candidate registered narrow victory.
2. MJP may once again dent BJP chances in this corporation.
