Election dates for Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Assam, Kerala elections

Assembly election schedule

    Election Commission of India (ECI) announced schedule for Assembly elections in 5 states - Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Kerala, West Bengal & Assam. Election code will come into effect immediately. Elections in Tamil Nadu, Kerala & Puducherry will be held in one phase while West Bengal elections will be held in six phases. Assam Assembly polls will be held in two phases. 83% polling in Valpoi Assembly by-poll

    83% of voters casted their votes in the Valpoi Assembly constituency by - election. Vishwajit Rane who elected as an independent in 2007 elections joined Congress recently and is now contesting on Congress ticket.     Total number of voters: 17,912     Votes polled: 14,881     Voting percentage: 83%. 80% of polling was recorded in 2007 elections.     Highlight: Election commission introduced Voter facilitation centre in this by-poll.     Valpoi Assembly by-election Candidates:     Congress: Vishwajit rane (health minister )     BJP: Santosh Haldankar      Trends: Congress party candidate Vishwajit Rane is expected to easily win in Valpoi by-election.     Counting of votes will be held on October 21.   … [Read more...]

Bihar poll: Fifth phase notification released

    Election Commission issued notification for the fifth phase of Assembly elections in Bihar. Elections will be held in 35 Assembly segments on November 9. Most of the areas are naxal infested places.     October 22 is the last date to file nominations while October 25 is last date for withdrawal.     Elections will held in 35 Assembly seats in Gaya, Nawada, Sheikhpura, Nalanda, Jehanabad, Bhojpur and Patna districts.     Polling time: 7 AM - 3 PM - Naxal affected places. 7 AM-5 PM in other Assembly constituencies.     Polling date is November 9 and counting of votes will be done on November 24.   … [Read more...]

CWC election schedule

    Congress party announced schedule to elect new members for Congress Working Committe (CWC). On November 2, AICC members across India will select 12 CWC members.     CWC members:     Total: 25     Ex-officio members: Party President & Prime Minister     Elected members: 12. AICC members will elect these 12 members on November 2.     Nominated members: 11. Congress Party president will nominate these members.     CWC election schedule:     November 2:     12 Noon: Nominations start     3 PM: Nominations end     4:30 PM: Contestants names will be announced     6-10 PM: Polling time     Counting of votes and winners will be announced on November 3.     According to political analysts, Congress Party never elected AICC members in an election after Sonia Gandhi took over reins.     Congress Party President will appoint PCC presidents in the next 2 weeks before conducting CWC election. Recently, Sonia Gandhi was unanimously elected as Congress Party president for fourth consecutive time.     Polling for six Gujarat Municipal Corporation elections is now going on. 86.2 lakh voters will cast their votes in these cities. BJP and Congress party fought hard in these prestigious municipal polls. BJP won the all 6 corporations in the 2005 polls. But, Mahagujarat Janata Party (MJP) is expected to split some votes and play crucial role in tight contests.     Most of these Gujarat cities are among the fastest growing cities in India and these cities have undergone massive changes in the last 5 years. Outcome of these polls will give us some signals about Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi’s current popularity. Bihar elections: 4th phase notification released

    Election commission today issued notification for the fourth phase of Assembly polls in Bihar. Elections will be held in 42 assembly seats on November 1 in fourth phase. Banka Lok Sabha poll will also be held along with assembly elections.     October 14 is the last date for nomination while October 18 is the last date for withdrawal.     Poiing time: 7 AM-5 PM except in Alauli (SC), Suryagarha, Tarapur, Jamalpur, Katoria(ST), Belhar, Sikandara (SC), Jamui, Jhajha and Chakai constituencies where polling will held from 7 AM – 3 PM.     In the fourth phase, elections will be held in Bhagalpur, Banka, Jamui, Munger, Khagaria, Lakhisarai, Begusarai and Patna districts.     Fate of the contesting candidates will be known on November 24.     Election Commission issued notification for the third phase of Assembly elections in Bihar. Elections will be held in 48 Assembly segments on October 28.     October 11 is the last date to file nominations while October 14 is last date of withdrawal.     Elections will held in 48 Assembly seats in East Champaran, West Champaran, Gopalganj, Siwan, Saran & Vaishali districts.     Polling time: 7 AM - 3 PM - Valmikinagar, Ramanagar, Raghopur and Patepur. 7 AM-5 PM in other Assembly constituencies.     Counting of votes will be done on November 24. BJP Vs Congress: Political war on internet

    BJP and Congress now decided to fight on internet. In an unprecedented instance, Bharatiya Janata Party sent legal notice to Congress party for diverting website traffic by buying a domain name which is similar to official website of BJP. According to this, BJP lost huge traffic as internet users misleaded by BJP.com.     Official website of BJP: www.bjp.org     BJP complaint: Congress party diverted traffic to www.congress.org.in (Congress party official site) by buying domain www.bjp.com. Due to this, when an internet user typed bjp.com in the address bar, he will go to official website of Congress party.     But, as per latest data, bjp.com is still available for sale and there is no diversion of traffic to Congress website.     Comment: I don’t think Congress party resorts to such cheap tactics. It might have been done by domain owner in order to propel BJP to buy bjp.com.     Only time will reveal the truth - whether this incident occurred due to BJP’s ignorance or Congress’s cheap tactics.     But, this is definitely an interesting development in the Indian political history and also an interesting case in Indian domain history. It is time for political parties to use experts in this field to deal with such developments.     How to proceed in such instances?     1. Send complaint notice to domain registrar with details about illegal activity of domain owner. Request the registrar to give details of domain owner. Generally, registrars do not respond.     2.
