Gaya town Assembly is a bastion of BJP and Prem Kumar but party lost its bastions (Manpur & Delhi Bhaluahi) in the constituency due to de-limitation exercise. Prem kumar is retaining this seat for the last 20 years due to favourable caste equations, absence of strong opposition leader and split in secular votes but town has not seen much development.
Gaya town is situated on the banks of Falgu river and it used to be a direct contest between BJP and CPI till 2005 but Congress regained some of its lost glory in the last 5 years. CPI is trying hard to attract Muslim voters by fielding a muslim candidate.
